•    History- One of the greatest warlords from the Sengoku or Warring States Period (c. 1467 – c. 1603), Oda Nobunaga once organized this event and danced in it.
 

•    Details- Sagicho is a 2-meter tall torch that is made of pine wood and woven straw and topped with 3-meter tall bamboo poles covered in strips of red paper. This fire festival takes place over a weekend in mid-March, where the sagicho torches are set alight. Those who built these torches or the participant are seen dancing, chanting and cheering.
Dai Himonjiyaki- Minami-Aso and Nishihara Villages, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture (March 21st 2016):

•    Venue- Ojo-Dake Mountain & Aso Shrine
 

•    History- This festival was previously known as No-yaki (grass/ field burning) festivals across the Aso area. In past this festival was celebrated for an entire month and conducted to maintain healthy pasture land for local cattle.
 

•    Details- The most spectacular fire festival takes place on a weekend mid-month on the slopes of Ojo- Dake Mountain, where giant bonfires are arranged in a 350-meter long that lit up the mountain slopes. The fires are allowed to spread and engulf the neighboring slopes, which will offer an awesome spectacle.
